Hi folks,
Just some latest news from Bristol Wool Fair.
The Bristol Wool Fair Harvest Supper tickets are now on sale via the Wool Fair website. This is a traditional celebration supper with entertainment to follow. Bob Kennard, author of ' Much Ado About Mutton' will give a talk based on his popular book, then Talis will sing a selection of her original songs about knitting, crafting and life. Talis was very well received by visitors to last year's Wool Fair, and we are delighted to be welcoming her back.
Harvest Supper partakers are invited to bring their current knitting, crochet or spinning project to work on as they listen to our speaker and musicians. Food on offer includes a hot and cold buffet with roast turkey, vegetarian option and apple pie. There will be a bar selling beer, wine, cider, soft drinks, also tea and coffee. See The Bristol Wool Fair website for details. Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance for the Harvest Supper.
The Bristol Wool Fair now has over 80 independent traders booked and confirmed, with a waiting list of others hoping to secure a pitch at the 2016 Wool Fair. 5 Guilds of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers from neighbouring counties will be joined by the Guild from Pembrokeshire to offer ongoing demonstrations of weaving and hand spinning. Throughout the weekend there will be opportunities for visitors to try using a spinning wheel or spindle. The Guilds preserve the traditional skills of spinning, weaving and dyeing and pass them forward to future generations. These ancient crafts continue to evolve, embracing modern colours, fibres and designs which give infinite potential for creativity. Come and see the experts at work, then try spinning for yourself.
The Bristol Wool Fair is fully accessible by public transport. If you are arriving by bus, or by train and bus, head for Cribbs Causeway, where the free Wool Fair Shuttle bus will be running from the Mall Coach Park stop. See the website for full details and a map.
The Wool Fair has invited some truly adorable woolly visitors. As well as birds of prey, sheepdogs, rabbits, ducks and alpacas, we will have some Valais Blacknose sheep. These animals are the sheep equivalent of teddy bears, and are just incredibly cute. Make sure you find time to visit the animal pen area and take some photos!
The Bristol Wool Fair is really coming together now, tickets are selling fast, and preparations are keeping the whole crew busy, with just a few short weeks until we open. Book your tickets now, and we will see you in September, at Washingpool Farm.
